Many businesses have already shifted to IPv6 while some are still using old IPv4. The IPV6 is the latest version of Internet Protocol which is intended to supplement and eventually replace IPv4. Since the invention of the Internet, there have been a lot of technical changes. Changed to 2040 and it worked, so for some reason it changed that setting to cater for 6 stands for Internet Protocol version 6. I had a Dell that I temporarily connected to a 802.11ac capable router, and when it connected to the original 802.11n router, there was the No Internet issue. So if anyone has this same issue on this same laptop, do the following:ģ) Right click on Wi-Fi adapter, select propertiesĤ) Click on configure, then go to advanced tabĥ) Select HT Mode, and change the value to HT Mode 20|40Ħ) Click OK, then you should be able to ping your router and any siteįYI, I tried everything out there. After reading dejavou42's post, I decided to play around with frequencies. I had this same problem with a Dell Inspiron 15, with Dell Wireless 1703 card. I don't know where to go in my troubleshooting from here, but the best I can tell, connecting to the iphone hotspot forced the 20mhz frequency, then connecting to the access point continued on that frequency for sometime until it switched over to 40mhz. Does anyone know of another way to force this? Since this was working fine under windows 7, does this sound like a bug for windows 10? So, no easy way, atleast through the advanced driver properties, to force the 20mhz frequency only. I can't leave my wifi set to 20mhz only, and I most definitely can't change the settings on public hotspots or other private networks that I don't own.ĭiving into the driver settings from device manager, I see the following options: > wifi connected with internet access, and so far, it has stayed connected. Then, I changed the setting to 20mhz only. I got the same result -> connected, but no internet connection, can't ping router. Doing some testing on the router in question, I changed the network from 20/40mhz auto to 40 mhz and reconnected wifi.
